The Unity operating model
Local ownership.
Shared standards.
Unity bridges the gap between local-content requirements and the operational capability major projects demand.
An operating model developed by the same team and ownership structure as RSS Group, built on over 20 years of operating experience.
The difference at a glance
Local ownership.
Value shared more widely.
The Unity model connects local enterprise with operating experience, shared prosperity and ongoing accountability.

Why we created Unity
Local ownership.
International experience.
Shared prosperity.
Project sponsors and operators, often working internationally, need to meet local-content expectations while maintaining safety, quality and dependable service. Local businesses can bring ownership, relationships and market knowledge, but may need access to the systems and specialist support those projects demand.
Unity connects the two. We equip wholly locally owned country partners with training, systems, technical expertise and ongoing oversight, helping them build the capability to deliver.
Our model also addresses a wider question: who benefits when a project succeeds? Local shareholders retain ownership, while structured profit-sharing connects commercial success with benefits for employees and the immediate community.
Different priorities. Shared progress.
A model that connects
everyone’s interests.
Reliable delivery for clients. Meaningful local participation for host countries. Opportunity for the people closest to the work.

Local entrepreneurs & country partners+
Build the business. Retain ownership.

A defined share of profits, with local priorities helping shape the benefit.
How the model works
Your country.
Your business.
Unity behind you.
A structured partnership gives local operators access to experience, capability and a shared brand, while the country business remains wholly locally owned.
Local ownership
100% local shareholders.
Each country-defined business is owned entirely by local shareholders, who retain ownership. The local operator runs the business as a Unity Country Partner, bringing local knowledge, relationships and leadership. Employee and community participation is through profit-sharing, without a transfer of shares.
The Unity platform
The tools to operate well.
Partners receive access to the Unity brand, operating systems, knowledge and intellectual property, supported by full training and ongoing technical expertise.
An ongoing relationship
Connected by contract.
Unity and its Country Partners are bound by a formal, legally binding charter that sets out their shared obligations and accountability. Partner agreements and an ongoing technical services contract support delivery of the model and the required way of operating.
What we bring

available locally.

- Full training & knowledge transferTraining in the Unity model and its systems, with support to build the capabilities of local teams.
- HSEQ supportHealth, safety, environment and quality systems and technical guidance to support consistent standards.

- Funding, where appropriateIn some cases, funding may form part of the support provided to a local operator. It is not a standard entitlement of partnership.
A structured partnership
Support with substance.
Terms agreed together.
Partners receive access to the Unity brand, operating systems, training and specialist expertise. Commercial terms and profit-sharing arrangements are discussed privately and defined in the country partnership agreements, with clear governance and accountability.
The problems we are addressing
A different model.
For practical reasons.
These are the gaps Unity is designed to address—and how our approach responds.
The challengeThe Unity approach
Ownership & benefit
Local ownership does not always mean shared prosperity.
A local shareholding may benefit a small number of owners while offering little direct participation to employees or neighbouring communities.
Share value deliberately.
Local shareholders retain ownership. Employees and local communities participate in commercial success through structured profit-sharing arrangements, extending benefits beyond the shareholder group.
Workforce commitment
A wage alone may not create a lasting stake.
When people see limited opportunity to progress or share in success, disengagement and staff turnover can undermine continuity and service quality.
Make employees participants.
Financial participation, skills development and opportunities to progress give employees more reasons to build their future with the business. That supports the stable, capable teams clients depend on.
Local content
Compliance can become the end goal.
Meeting a local-content requirement on paper does not necessarily build the skills, suppliers or management capability a region needs for the long term.
Build capability through the work.
We prioritise local employment, training and supplier participation as part of service delivery. The intention is to develop capability that continues to have value beyond an individual contract.
Community relationships
Project activity can leave too little behind.
When income and purchasing flow out of an area, or community support is occasional and disconnected from local priorities, long-term benefits can remain limited.
Keep more value close to the operation.
Local sourcing and structured community profit-sharing are designed to retain more value close to the operation. Community priorities help guide investment in areas such as education, wellbeing, skills and local enterprise.
Unity Country Partner status
A shared brand.
Standards that must be maintained.
Local ownership comes with clear operational responsibilities. Every Unity Country Partner must meet strict standards and undergo regular audits to maintain its status.
A charter that binds both parties
Unity and its Country Partners are bound by a formal, legally binding charter. It establishes the shared commitments and responsibilities that underpin the model, with accountability on both sides of the partnership.
Defined requirements
The charter, partner agreements and technical services contract provide the framework for how each business operates under the Unity model.
Ongoing support and oversight
Unity remains connected to the business through training, systems, HSEQ and technical support, alongside regular audits of compliance.
Continued status depends on compliance
Unity Country Partner status is conditional on maintaining the required standards. Access to the model and brand carries an ongoing obligation to operate in the agreed way.
Why it matters to clients
Stronger relationships.
More dependable operations.
Workforce instability and weak community relationships can become operational risks. Our approach is designed to address their causes.
Greater continuity
Profit-sharing and development opportunities are designed to build a loyal, engaged workforce and improve staff retention—helping preserve experience and consistent service on site.
Stronger local support
Meaningful community benefit helps build trust and a more constructive relationship between a project and its neighbours.
More resilient supply
Developing local suppliers and skills can reduce dependency on distant resources and strengthen support over a project’s life.
Commercial discipline remains central
Shared value depends
on a business that performs.
The Unity model supports commercial operating businesses. Safety, service standards and contractual commitments remain fundamental. Employee and community participation must work within sound project economics, with clear governance and accountability.
That is what we mean by socially aligned, commercially driven: locally owned businesses, supported by experience, accountable to shared standards and designed to create lasting local value.
